The plumping effect is not provided by camphor or chilli, but by a high concentration of benzyl nicotinate, which is related to vitamin B3. This active ingredient has a blood vessel-widening effect – after application, the lips receive more blood flow and actually increase in volume, appearing fuller. A slight tingling sensation can be felt. A great side effect: fine wrinkles at the edge of the lips, where lipstick sometimes goes astray, are smoothed out! Apart from benzyl nicotinate, vitamin E and valuable extracts from the plant purslane (also known as ‘kiss-me-quick’) are also effective in the lip plumper. It is rich in vitamin C, but also contains vitamins A, B and E, as well as the minerals and trace elements magnesium, calcium, potassium, iron and zinc. It also provides antioxidant flavonoids and oxalic acid, as well as moisture-binding biopolymers.
